Underware is an international type-collective located in Amsterdam, Den Haag & Helsinki, established in 1999. They publish about type, they talk about type and encourage (and mobilize) others to talk about type.
The exhibition will feature the first public screening of the grammatographical letter “Liza Y”, for which the cooperated with the dutch artist Rob Bothoff. The presentation will be accompanied by 3 new posters and a series of recent publications.
“Variable Fonts is one of the most exciting typographic developments of the last years. Maybe it is even the most relevant one, since the invention of moveable type by Gutenberg. By showing various projects from the recent years, Underware wants to critically reflect on the bigger relevance of this technology.”
Organized by print gallery Tokyo, Underware Cooperated by Quotation magazine Supported by JTA/Japan Typography Association, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Exhibition setting supported by Kawara Printmaking Laboratory
